This summer, Grand Seiko introduces two new, exclusive timepieces, available solely in the U.S. market. The SBGA507 and SBGA509 models draw inspiration from the classic 44GS case design, known for its distinct, faceted shapes. These watches are powered by the advanced Spring Drive Caliber 9R65, offering an impressive 72-hour power reserve and exceptional accuracy of ±15 seconds per month.
The highlight of these new models is their dials, adorned with the kirazuri technique, derived from the Japanese ukiyo-e woodblock print art. Kirazuri, meaning “sparkling painting,” uses mica dust to create a shimmering effect. The dials come in two captivating colors: rose pink and a subtle, cool blue, reflecting the diverse shades of the sky over Lake Suwa, near the Shinshu Watch Studio where Spring Drive watches are crafted.
The SBGA507 and SBGA509 feature stainless steel cases measuring 40mm in diameter and 12.5mm in thickness. Paired with a stainless steel bracelet and a three-fold clasp, these watches maintain the classic elegance characteristic of Grand Seiko. The case back, made of sapphire crystal, allows for a view of the precise internal mechanism.
