The Bioceramic MoonSwatch MISSION TO EARTHPHASE is an innovative release from Swatch that celebrates Earth and Moon, our closest celestial bodies. This remarkable timepiece not only includes a traditional moon phase function but introduces an unprecedented “Earth phase” feature—making it the first watch ever to unite these two poetic complications.
In homage to Galileo’s legendary quote, “And yet it moves,” Swatch has humorously adapted it to “And yet they move!” echoing the continuous dance of Earth and Moon. Similar to the MISSION TO THE MOONPHASE model, the MISSION TO EARTHPHASE displays the moon phase at the 2 o’clock position, while a new Earth phase appears at the 10 o’clock mark.
This patented, colorful Earth phase display reflects the vibrant diversity of our blue planet, showcasing oceans, forests, deserts, and even clouds. For a surreal touch, UV ink highlights the oceans, visible only under UV light, while craters on the Moon have been intricately printed to enhance the view from Earth. The watch dial features a unique, grainy texture evoking lunar dust, adding a tangible link to the Moon.
These twin complications work together to portray how each celestial body appears when viewed from the other. The Earth phase dial rotates left, opposite the moon phase, offering a retrograde effect to represent the inverse cycles. When the Moon is full, Earth appears new—and vice versa—with each cycle lasting 29.5 days.
This MoonSwatch model is crafted from Swatch’s proprietary Bioceramic, blending ceramic with bio-based material derived from castor oil. A black tachymeter scale adorns the bioceramic bezel, highlighted with distinct light gray markings. The watch also includes a chronograph function, the OMEGA x Swatch logos on the crown and dial, and a battery cover featuring the iconic footprint of Neil Armstrong on the Moon. Additionally, fans will recognize features from the legendary OMEGA Speedmaster Moonwatch, such as the asymmetrical case and the dot-over-90 on the tachymeter.
This unique timepiece will be available in stores starting November 2nd, offering a creative tribute to Earth, Moon, and the wonders of time.
